Auburn quietly fired Al Borges from his position as Offensive Coordinator Monday. After being the top offense in the SEC in his first year (2004) and being ranked 25th nationally, Auburn's offense has been in a steady decline. Ranked 37th in 2005, 76th in 2006 and 101st in 2007.
This puts a lot of fire to the rumors that Tony Franklin (Troy's Offensive Coordinator) was on Auburn's Campus Monday. Tuberville wants to have a new coordinator in place before Bowl practice starts Friday, so he probably has a short list of candidates most would scoff at, but whoever is hired might be the next Bob Petrino. With his track record of hiring assistants theres a 50/50 chance. So we say goodbye to Al today with this great picture of his days at UCLA where he turned Cade McNown into a first round draft pick.
